Writing Coach

Do you have a book in you?

There’s a good chance that your answer to that question is a definite ‘yes’ – or perhaps it’s a half-hearted ‘maybe’. Many people would love to write a book, but feel that they won’t have the time or ability to do justice to the ideas they’ve been carrying around with them for years. Others might have tried a few times in the past, only to become discouraged when it turned out to be more difficult than they expected.

Going from a blank page to a finished novel, memoir or non-fiction book can be a long and arduous journey, but you don’t have to go it alone. I offer coaching tailored specifically to writers of all kinds, from experienced published authors to hobbyists to people who would love to write but just don’t know where to start.

Nobody can write your book for you, nor can they guarantee you success in getting it published, but I believe that a coach can help you overcome the following common difficulties in bringing your book from concept to first draft to finished manuscript:

  • Not knowing how or where to begin.
  • Performing background research (particularly important for non-fiction writers).
  • Setting realistic goals – and achieving them.
  • Finding the motivation to write every day.
  • Gaining the necessary self-confidence to write.
  • Dealing with setbacks and obstacles.
  • Moving into different genres or forms to what you’re used to.
  • Finishing the book…
  • …and deciding what do with it afterwards.

Again, I can’t promise you a successful career as a published author. The publishing industry is difficult to predict even for those who work in it, and anyone who claims to have a guaranteed route to success is most likely running a scam. What I can promise is that I will do my utmost to help you meet your writing goals, whatever those may be.

If you just want to write and publish a memoir that your children will be able to read, we can work towards making that a reality together. If your ultimate goal is to become a published author, then I can also help you with that. Get in touch by e-mailing me and we can discuss whether coaching is right for you.
